Overview

Aviation Drive, connecting South Australian Aviation Museum to Bedford Street, was fully refreshed with 330m of new asphalt, drainage and concrete kerbing.

Platinum completed the project primarily using our own labour. Specialised trades were employed as appropriate with sub-contracting employed for surveying, geotechnical testing, concrete work and line marking.

Project Scope

The project involved broadly the following:

  • Removal and disposal of existing asphalt pavement
  • Saw cutting of existing pavement and kerbing
  • Removal and disposal of existing concrete crossover
  • Removal of existing rail lines
  • Box-out excavation for new concrete crossover
  • Subgrade trimming, compaction, testing, and proof rolling
  • Placement of PM2/20 RG layers, including trimming, compaction, and proof rolling
  • Construction of 100 mm thick PM1/20 basecourse layer, including trimming and compaction
  • Installation of 40 mm thick AC10M (C320) asphalt wearing course
  • Construction of kerb and driveway working platform
  • Line marking works
  • Respread topsoil to disturbed areas
  • Installation of stormwater pits
